pppppoker face

Here an interesting article about how Lady Gaga became “Lady Gaga.” Turns out she was a goody goody Catholic school girl (aren’t they always). I think she should start wearing pants or a bottom occasionally, but I can’t deny that her songs are catchy.

random cute commercial

I don’t know if you guys have seen this commercial for Mott’s Apple Juice with Marcia Cross, but for some reason those red-headed kids make me happy. And I loved the song so much I tracked it down, and included the full song below as well. Enjoy!

anyone up for a challenge?

I love this idea from the New York Times Dining & Wine section. Get some friends together for two dinners on a very limited budget, and see what happens! $50 for dinner for six sounds pretty good to me, since tomorrow I’m going to a 3-course meal for $35 plus tip and tax and even that’s supposed to be a bargain!

did anyone else notice this dress?

I love Gossip Girl – probably not a shocker there – but I don’t always love the outfits on the show. However, I loved the dress Blair wore last night, and one of my favorite sites, Celeb Style, found it for me! Don’t think I can afford the $1600 price tag, though.

the omnivore’s dilemma

I really dislike when people get preachy about food, especially when people constantly stress that organic is better. The New York Time’s Mark Bittman recently wrote an article about this topic that I wholly support. What’s better for someone’s personal health, the country, and the world: someone eating organic food flown in from the other side of the globe, OR someone eating vegetables grown at home or from the grocery store? In the long-run, eating organic food is probably the best bet. However, in the short-term, it is too costly for the average American and for the world’s environment to fly in more vegetables from across the world because they are “organic”. Additionally, since most Americans are overweight or obese, it’s more important to instill healthy eating habits than forcing another unrealistic, expensive, guilt-ridden food ideology upon them.

WHAT??

I don’t understand how so many girls are supporting Chris Brown over Rhianna. I know the incident happened awhile ago, but the New York Times today had an article about this girl v. girl phenomenon. Many girls are defending Brown, saying that Rhianna probably did something to deserve the attack. Even if she was the craziest of the all the really crazy girls out there, Rhianna did not deserve that kind of beating. This attitude reminds me of that scene in Mean Girls when Tina Fey tells the girls, “You have to stop calling each other sluts and whores. It just makes it ok for guys to call you sluts and whores.” So basically…girl power, people.
